AWHT Blog Hop: Fancy Fold cards

21122493_10156428242398840_3589509906599043916_o

Welcome to another Art with Heart Team blog hop where we are focusing on fancy folds. You will find loads of creative inspiration tonight, showcasing different folding techniques and projects. Don’t be afraid of trying some Fancy Fold cards; they may look intimidating, but in fact, they are not that difficult to create.

I’m sharing two fancy fold cards today and I seem to be on a bit of a run with Christmas cards, so I ran with it! 😉 I’ll also give a brief description on how I made them, I hope it makes sense 😀

My first card today, came out a little differently than expected, but I’m still happy with the result. This is a simple fancy fold card, and to be honest I think I’m cheating calling it a fancy fold.. hehe. The front of the card is actually just trimmed down and then I added the main embellishment to the bottom of this piece leaving some over hang.

Fancy Folds AWHT 1

After I trimmed the front down, I cut a piece of DSP from the Merry Little Christmas DSP and a mat in Soft suede. I then diecut a circle of the same DSP and mounted that on a circle of Soft Suede, I also took the time to match the pattern of both pieces of DSP so they went in the same direction. On a piece of Crumb Cake I stamped the image from Merry Little Labels in Soft Suede and then punched it out with the Everyday Label Punch. I then punched out two more pieces of the same punch in Soft Suede and cut these in half so I could layer them underneath the stamped piece, one punched piece vertical and the other horizontal. I then mounted this embellishment on the circle diecuts using Dimensionals.

Fancy Folds AWHT 2

The inside of the card I used the Merry Mistletoe Stamp Set. I stamped the garland in Old Olive (second generation stamping, by stamping the first image on a scrap piece of paper and then without re-inking the stamp I stamped it on to the Whisper White piece). I used the garland images to make a border.

Fancy Folds AWHT 3

Down the bottom of this piece I stamped the “Christmas Wishes” in Soft Suede down the bottom, so it could also be seen at the front of the card.

For my next card I used the Santa Paws stamp set, how could anyone resist those singing cats!

Fancy Folds AWHT 5For this card I did one of my favourite Fancy Folds: The Double-Z Fold. I’ve made a few of these recently, because they are so easy but effective! the reason it is called a Double-Z Fold is because the folds look like a capital Z.

Fancy Folds AWHT 7

I have been using my blender pen a fair amount this week with both pencils and inks, but I wanted to try something new. I used the Wink of Stella brush, instead of the blender pen and it is SO PRETTY and so glittery (although not easy to capture in a photo)!! Obviously I will be doing this technique again!

Fancy Folds AWHT 8

To make this card I made the larger Z piece in Basic Black and the smaller mount in Smoky Slate. I then stamped on this smaller piece using the Sheet Music Background Stamp in Smoky Slate.

I stamped the image of the choristers in Basic Black and die-cut it with the Stitched Shape Framelits. Using a variety of ink pads and my Wink of Stella pen I coloured in the image and when finished I mounted it on a circle diecut from the Layering circle framelits in Basic Black. I mounted this piece using Dimensionals, and placed it over a banner of Silver Glimmer paper, punched with the Triple Banner Punch.

Fancy Folds AWHT 4

I then stamped “Here comes Santa Paws!” and die cut it with the stitched framelits. Mounting it again on a Basic Black die cut circle. To add a bit of interest I also put two strips of Silver Glimmer Paper on this piece.

Fancy Folds AWHT 6

I used the back as the main space for writing a message. To do this I made a mount in Smoky Slate and a piece in Whisper White. I stamped one of the choristers in the corner and coloured him in as before. I added another piece of Silver Glimmer paper to finish it off.

Fancy Folds AWHT 9

I hope you liked the cards today! Now it’s time to hop on over to our next participant, the very talented, Rachel Woollard. I can’t wait to see what she has made this month!art with heart Next Blog

The Heart of Christmas AWHT Week 16!

18765870_10154311116961735_3301740933993361467_n

Welcome back to another week of inspiration from the Art With Heart Team! This week I wanted to share with you a card I made with the Santa Paws set. This was one of those stamp sets that stood out to me in the catalogue as an animal lover and also many of my friends are too! How could I resist?!

Heart of Christmas Wk16 Santa Paws 1

As you can see there was a fair amount of colouring involved. For this card I used my Watercolour Pencils and Blender Pen. I discovered there were some itty bitty details in there!

Heart of Christmas Wk16 Santa Paws 3

I used 2 punches to complete my card: the Holly Berry Builder Punch and the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch. I think the little Holly Embellishment adds a little more interest to what is otherwise a very straightforward card.

The sentiment was diecut with the oval dies and matted with a scallop oval in Old Olive.

I used the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch on the inside of the card too, along with the very cute pun!

AWHT Favourite Colour Combination

The Art with Heart Team ladies are selecting their favourite colour combinations to share with you tonight. Choosing the right colour scheme can be essential to your design and with Stampin’ Up!s stunning collection, there are 50 colours to choose from. There’s sure to be some combinations that work really well together and you can take inspiration from.

Now sit back and enjoy some time out of your day to cruise through our blog hop and soak up some colour explosion eye candy!

I love colour and discovering new combinations that work. Colour can be soothing, uplifting, fun. It can evoke memories and emotions.

When I first joined Stampin’ Up as a hobby demonstrator I wanted to add some inks to my sign up kit. But which ones to choose? I knew I wanted them to be versatile and suit a range of themes and stamp sets. Now of course the deeper you delve, the more you learn and change, but I needed to start somewhere. I was drawn to the Brights Collection first. What could be happier, brighter or more fun? A beautiful rainbow of colours. And to be honest, what drew me to that collection, were two colours: Melon Mambo and Bermuda Bay! I love these two colours together, they are so bright and happy, I find myself returning to these two colours a lot!

Today I am sharing 3 cards using these two colours as the main colours! Papercrafts with Andrea, AWHT Fav Colour Combo Blog hop, Stampin' Up! Australia

My first card was using the Bokeh technique:

Papercrafts with Andrea, AWHT Fav Colour Combo Blog hop, Stampin' Up! AustraliaI was inspired by an ATC swap I did with some of the other Art With Heart Team members. To make this card I masked off the edge of the card with long sticky notes and sponged on the colours. I added in a little bit of Night of Navy to the Melon Mambo and Bermuda Bay. The Bokeh circles were added by using the White Craft Ink and the sentiment also used the White Craft Ink and was heat embossed using White embossing powder. To finish off the card I used a few silver sequins.

The next card I wanted to make bright and happy, and I also used the Happy Birthday Thinlit die. Papercrafts with Andrea, AWHT Fav Colour Combo Blog hop, Stampin' Up! Australia

I stamped the background using the Diagonal Stripe Clearmount stamp. The flowers are fromthe Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set. I stamped the pink ones in Powder Pink for the solid image and then the detailed stamp using Melon Mambo. The other ones were stamped in Pool Party for the solid image and then Bermuda bay for the detailed stamp.  A few of the larger flowers don’t have the solid colour underneath. I then fussy cut all the flowers and heat embossed the background elements in Gold. The thinlit die is layered with a slight offset. The background image is Whisper White, while the main focal diecut is Melon Mambo.

Here is a close-up of the layered flower elements and also the layered Happy Birthday sentiment:
Papercrafts with Andrea, AWHT Fav Colour Combo Blog hop, Stampin' Up! Australia

My last card that I am sharing for the blog hop also uses the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set (can you tell that I love this set?). I wanted a “prettier” look for this card, so I cascaded the flowers from top to bottom corner.

Papercrafts with Andrea, AWHT Fav Colour Combo Blog hop, Stampin' Up! Australia

I used the same colour combinations before the pink flowers are Powder Pink and Melon Mambo, the blue flowers are using Pool Party and Bermuda Bay. I fussy cut 3 of the flowers and mounted them on SU Dimensionals. The sentiment I stamped in 2 parts to fit it in the Label Me Pretty stamp. Instead of the Label Punch I used the Stitched Oval and die cut the Scallop oval in Melon Mambo.

I used a Melon Mambo mat on a Bermuda Bay base for the card. I also stamped inside the card on a piece of Whisper White:

AWHT Heart of Christmas Week 7

18765870_10154311116961735_3301740933993361467_n

Hello Everyone,

Today I am once again participating in a Blog Hop with some other Art with Heart Team members! Members from the Art with Heart Team will bringing you ideas for Christmas weekly from now until Christmas! I’m hoping to get a post up regularly and help myself get on top of my Christmas tags and cards especially, but hopefully some off the page items too!

This week I am excited to share my latest card. This idea has been floating around in my head for a few weeks and after a bit of tweaking I think it looks really cute! I’d love to hear what you think of it!

I must admit that I really love using Crumb Cake in my Christmas projects, and it goes perfectly with the Foxy Friends set. I wanted to make a silhouette appearance with the reindeer, but I also wanted it subtle. I also wanted a modern, clean look for the card. This is what I came up with!

AWHT Heart of Christmas Wk7

To make the card:

  • I started with a Crumb Cake card base (half of an A4 sheet)
  • I also used a piece of Crumb Cake measuring 9.5cm x 13.9cm
  • On this piece I used the solid face image and the antlers making a pattern diagonally.
  • I then stamped the reindeer (I only needed the face) using Crumb Cake, and Memento for the face details and punched this using the Foxy Friends punch)
  • Still using the Crumb Cake I stamped the antlers and fussy cut this out, assembling it behind the punched out face.
  • Using the Pretty Label Punch I punched 2 x Crumb Cake, 2 x Pool Party and 1 x Gold Foil Card
  • I cut the Pool Party pieces in to pieces to assemble behind one of the Crumb Cake Labels to create a border/ mat.
  • I used the New Label Punch on the Gold Foil card and adhered this on top of the Labels.
  • I popped up the reindeer face on top, using a Dimensional
  • Using the Gold metallic thread (looped around 4 of my fingers a few times) I layered this in behind the Labels, and glued this to the card front.
  • I trimmed off a small portion of the Crumb cake and a slightly larger version of the Gold Foil. I then stamped “From Us” on to the Crumb cake portion using the Memento Ink. I placed this at the top of the card
  • I then used Dimensionals to pop the card front on to the card base

For a full list of supplies see the bottom of this post.

Thanks for visiting me today I hope you liked the card! If you head back to Judy’s blog she has a list of the other AWHT members participating this week! I can’t wait to see what the other ladies have made.

AWHT The Heart of Christmas

18765870_10154311116961735_3301740933993361467_n

Hello Everyone,

Today I am once again participating in a Blog Hop with some other Art with Heart Team members! Members from the Art with Heart Team will bringing you ideas for Christmas weekly from now until Christmas! I may not participate every week, but I’m hoping to get a post up regularly and help myself get on top of my Christmas tags and cards especially, but hopefully some off the page items too!

This is my third week participating and so far I’ve made a few tags, so I thought it was time to get my Christmas cards underway too! The card I’m sharing today is an update to one I made last year. I’ve changed some of the products around, as some of the elements have retired.

AWHT The Heart of Christmas

For my card this week I have gone with “traditional” colours using Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and Whisper White.

I’ve used a non-Christmas themed stamp, as I really like to make the most of my stamp sets. So I have used “Number of Years” to make the leaves and flowers, and also the banner at the top. Given that it is a Birthday set, it didn’t have a sentiment related to Christmas, so I grabbed my trusty “Teeny Tiny Sentiments” set for the Merry Christmas.

AWHT The Heart of Christmas pic2To make the card:

  • I started with a Garden Green card base (half of an A4 sheet)
  • I used 2 pieces of Cherry Cobbler measuring 10cm x 14.4cm (one for the mat on the card front, the other for inside the card)
  • I also used 2 pieces of Whisper White measuring 9.5cm x 13.9cm (one for the front and one for inside)
  • I stamped the leaves with Garden Green and the flowers with Cherry Cobbler (don’t forget inside of your card!)
  • I then ran the front stamped piece through the Big Shot with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder
  • I stamped the banner with Garden Green and the sentiment with Cherry Cobbler. I then used the banner die from the matching Large Numbers Framelits to die cut the sentiment, and also cut a 2nd banner with Cherry Cobbler to layer underneath the sentiment
  • Using a strip of Garden Green 1″ wide I punched another banner with the Banner Triple Punch
  • The banner sentiment was popped up using Stampin’ Up! dimensionals
  • For a bit of added glitz I also painted over the flowers with the Wink of Stella pen!

For a full list of the products used see the bottom of this post.

Art With Heart Team Favourite New Bundles

AWHT Blog Hop

Today the Art with Heart Team girls are showing you their favourite bundles from the 2017 Stampin’ Up! Catalogue. Bundles make creating a breeze, because of the perfect coordination. It’s a bonus that you get 10% off by bundling the products together too. There are 24 bundles in the new catalogue so ask us about them, or for a catalogue today!

With so many bundles to choose from you can imagine I have a few on my wishlist! I managed to narrow down a couple to start with which I chose because they looked so versatile.

So today I am sharing the new Tabs for Everything bundle. I knew when I first saw this one that it would be perfect for planning as well as card making AND scrapbooking! I love my planners and always am looking for a way that I can make it look attractive, bright and inviting (as I think it makes me want to look in it and use it more) and of course helps me keep organised. At the moment I do a mix of bullet journalling and normal planning and this year I have combined the two in one planner. If you haven’t heard of Bullet Journalling and  you have an interest in planning, I suggest you look in to it. It’s a fabulous tool for keeping on top of things/ life.

FavBundles012

Now for my projects!

FavBundles007

FavBundles010

My first card could either be for a boy or just a nice gender neutral card. I’ve paired one of the new in colours with one of last year’s in colour.

From the Tabs for Everything set I have used the words “happy” “birthday” and also the images of the birthday cake and the arrow. I love how you can use the outline of the image by itself, or fill the image with colour using the shaded stamp! On the front I used the striped stamp too. I also used the new Tab punch to add to the card.

Here is a closer look at the images:

Products used:
Cardstock: Dapper Denim, Whisper White, Lemon Lime Twist
Ink: Dapper Denim, Lemon Lime Twist, Memento Black
Embossing: Sparkle TIEF
Punches: Circle Tab Punch, Classic Label Punch, 3/4″ Circle
Dies: Stitched Shapes Framelits
Stamps: Tabs for everything
Other: Wink of Stella

FavBundles011

For the girly version of this card I used two of the new in colours! I changed the birthday cake for a crown and the arrow for a heart. Instead of having “Happy Birthday”, I replaced it with “Birthday wishes”. Too easy!

Here is a close up version of this card:

Ink: Berry Burst, Powder Pink, Memento Black
Embossing: Sparkle TIEF

Stamps: Tabs for everything
Other: Wink of Stella

This bundle is also great for little pockets. I made a baby shower card and was able to put a little pocket on the inside of the card:

FavBundles006

And the stamps are absolutely perfect for Bullet Journalling as I mentioned earlier! I was able to use a mix of the image stamps and the words to fill in my weekly planner and also to make a heading in my  Bullet Journal section!

I was inspired by our new In Colours and wanted to have a modern twist for my tags this week. So I used Lemon Lime Twist and Berry Burst.

Using the solid rectangle from the Thoughtful Banners set I used both in colours to create my background.

I added the sentiments in Memento Black from the same set, along with the “Merry Christmas” from Teeny Tiny Sentiments. I then punched this out using the Classic Label Punch.

I finished off one tag with Rhinestones and the other with sequins, just to add a bit of glitz!

Hi Everyone,

Today I am participating in a Blog Hop with some other Art with Heart Team members, to bring you some ideas for Christmas! Funny enough I didn’t need much encouragement to craft for Christmas since I LOVE Christmas…you know, just a little (ha ha).

I know each Christmas I use a lot of gift tags (because I LOVE Christmas remember, and that means spoiling those closest to me!). So it seemed only fitting that my first Christmas project for this year (yes, in May, much to my husband’s astonishment) that I make a tag.

I did make a similar Christmas card to this last year, I just altered it a little to make a smaller version.

IMG_7885_ed

I punched my piece of Crumb Cake cardstock with the Scalloped Tag Topper punch and then ran it through the Big Shot with my Brick Wall Textured Embossing Folder.
I diecut the wreath using the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits and adhered it using my Fine Tip Glue pen. I then used the Holly Berry Punch on Real Red cardstock to punch the bow and berries. With the Stampin’ Write Marker (Real Red) I added some details to the bow. I stamped the Christmas greeting from the timeless Teeny Tiny sentiments stamp set in Real Red and diecut that using the banner die in the Popcorn Box Thinlits. I popped up the sentiment with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. I finished off with a bit of Wink of Stella over the berries.  Is it even possible to do anything Christmas related without Wink of Stella? (no! Not if you are me!).

2017 Retiring products: Art with Heart Blog Hop

AWHT Blog Hop

Today I am participating in a blog hop along with the super talented ladies in the Art With Heart Team. We thought it would be fun to share some projects using our favourite retiring products from both the 2016-2017 annual and 2017 occasions catalogues!

Select retiring products have discounts of up to 50% off but are only available until sold out. Be sure to place orders before the sun sets on these items on 31 May. You don’t want to miss out – ask me how!

This time of year is so bittersweet with the release of the retiring list! It’s so exciting to think that the new Annual Catalogue is just around the corner (and as Demonstrators we have already seen what is to come!!),  but we also have to say goodbye to some of our favourite products. We always try and guess which products it could be, or ones that would be missed personally, but sometimes they catch you by surprise.

So for today’s blog hop I wanted to use my very favourite products and use them to make cards for both female and male to show you their versatility. These products can be used and paired in so many different ways and if you have been thinking about them, then I wouldn’t hesitate. I can tell you I don’t think I can let them go out of my stash 😉

AWHT retiring products blog hop

First up I have the female version of my card and treat holder. I had originally intended to share a project using some Occasions products that are retiring, but when I looked carefully at the retiring list and saw some old faithfuls on there I quickly changed my mind.

bloghop2

I started by choosing two of the 2015-2017 In-Colours that are retiring; Mint Macaron and Tip Top Taupe. I then paired them with Blushing Bride and Crumb Cake. I used the Falling Petals Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on the Mint Macaron cardstock. I then used the Gorgeous Grunge stamps (using the second generation stamping method) in the Crumb Cake, Blushing Bride and Mint Macaron. I also used these same colours to stamp and then punch the Petite Petals. To make the Petite Petals pop I placed them on a foam mat and used the bottom of my piercer to gently draw a circle and the petals curl up! I love to use this trick! I glued them down the bottom of the white card.
Using the Endless Birthday Wishes stamps I stamped the “happy birthday” and punched it out using the Decorative label punch. I then punch another Decorative Label with the Tip Top Taupe, cut it in half and glued it to the back of the stamped one to make a faux mat. I centered this embellishment on the white card and then mounted that on to the Tip Top Taupe mat and attached this to the Mint Macaron embossed piece using Dimensionals.

AWHT Retiring products blog hop - card inside
The inside also us stamped using the Gorgeous Grunge, like on the front of the card. I also used some left over Petite Petals in the top left and bottom right of the card.
The retiring products I have used are:
Mint Macaron ink
Tip Top Taupe card
Endless Birthday wishes stamp set
Petite Petals clear stamp set
Petite Petals punch
Decorative label punch
Gorgeous Grunge stamp set
Falling Petals Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

AWHT Retiring Products Blog Hop - Male

For the male version of the card I again started with the Tip Top Taupe as the base. I used a Pumpkin Pie mat. I must say that I always find male cards a bit more challenging than female cards, so this card changed a few times in the process of making. I made my own patterned paper by stamping a piece of Pacific Point card using matching ink, with “birthday boy” from the Endless Birthday Wishes set. I then used the Gorgeous Grunge set again on the Whisper White card, using second generation stamping. The “happy” is from the Hello You Thinlit dies. I die cut this in both Whisper White and Basic Black and slightly off set them to give the appearance of a shadow/ 3D. The word BIRTHDAY was stamped using Wild Wasabi ink and the Labeler Alphabet stamp set, I then used Dimensionals to attach to the card.

The retiring products I have used are:
Tip Top Taupe card
Endless Birthday wishes stamp set
Gorgeous Grunge stamp set
Hello You Thinlit dies

AWHT Retiring Products Blog Hop

The last thing I wanted to share were my little treat holders! They were so easy and quick to make. I started with a strip of Tip Top Taupe, measuring 2″ x 8″. I scored on the long side, at 3.5″ and 4.5″. I then punched both ends using the Tag Topper punch.

For the female version I punched a window using the Decorative label punch and then cut a small piece of acetate to go on the inside of the holder. I decorated the holder using the Petite Petals again and a piece of Whisper White twine to hold it all together.

For the male version I ran the front section (up to the first score line) with the Lucky Stars Textured Embossing folder. I punched a piece of Pumpkin Pie card with the Decorative Label punch, and die cut a piece of Wild Wasabi with the ovals framelits and Whisper White with with Stitched Oval framelits. I glued the two ovals together and attached them on to decorative label diecut using Dimensionals, with a piece of white ribbon between. The sentiment is using the Endless Birthday wishes again in Wild Wasabi ink.

The retiring products I have used are:
Tip Top Taupe card
Endless Birthday wishes stamp set
Petite Petals clear stamp set
Petite Petals punch
Decorative label punch
Lucky Stars Textured Embossing folder

Thanks for stopping by I hope you have enjoyed my projects today using some great classics, the next blog in the hop is the very talented Catherine Proctor! Enjoy!
